My story

Jappe

I am a storyteller deeply rooted in the traditions of my own culture, shaped by the wisdom of elders from different traditions. For me, storytelling is not about performance or marketing, it is about connection and authenticity. Stories are not something you own; they are something you serve.

I grew up surrounded by storytellers. Without realizing it, those stories shaped me. Only later did I understand that they were not just stories but keys: keys to identity, to community, to meaning. That discovery led me to The International School of Storytelling, where I immersed myself in the art of storytelling. But my true teachers were the elders I encountered, those who carried the stories and passed them on to the next generation. I worked with them to build bridges between young and old because I saw how stories do more than preserve memories, they open a path to mutual understanding and growth.

My work focuses on heritage, mythology, folklore, and biographical stories. But storytelling, to me, is more than just telling tales. I use it creatively, not only as an art form but also as a deeper means of communication. Stories help us connect, with ourselves and with one another, allowing us to engage on a different level. I do not tell stories to teach, I tell them to awaken, to set something in motion. My approach is rooted in wonder and humility: the story is always greater than the storyteller. When I tell a story, my goal is to create a space where people can be moved, where something shifts. After hearing a story, you are no longer the same.
